The Girl Scouts…My initial thoughts are of my own few years in the Scouts as a young girl. Selling cookies, earning badges, going to campouts, reading Bible stories around a camp fire, spending precious time with my mother who worked 3 jobs and yet still had time for every scouting event. Those memories are probably some of the most precious that I carry with me from my childhood.
I’m certain that for most Americans, this warm, fuzzy, sentimental reaction is pretty standard when considering the Girl Scouts. It is an organization that we trust, one that we turn our daughters to in complete faith that only good things will come of it.
We’ve heard some disturbing accusations lately in regards to an organization we all know, and thought we could trust. We’ve heard that they have exposed our daughters to sexually explicit material, they support the largest abortion provider in America, and that they promote experimenting with gay/lesbian ‘tendencies’ during adolescence. Wait, what?! Surely not. They’re just a cute organization of little girls who sell cookies! ….Right?
Let’s investigate. Here’s their answer to some of these accusations, direct from their website:
Oh, thank God! So they DON’T support abortion, birth control, or abortifacient drugs! Or do they? Are they lying to us? Would it change your mind about thier position to know that radical feminist Betty Friedan, founder of NOW (National Organization for Women) and NARAL (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League) was on the National Board of GSUSA for 12 years? What about their tweet expressing that Texas gubernatorial candidate and pro-abortion advocate Wendy Davis, who also filibustered a ban on abortion after 20 weeks, deserved to be on the 2013 “Women of the Year” list? Does this seem a little like a conflict of interests? Maybe it is an innocent coincidence. Let’s continue digging.
I can understand this. This same logic applies when I watch A & E but don’t agree with all of their programs or choices. Okay, I can follow your logic here. But let’s delve into just what exactly the WAGGGS is and what they stand for as a whole.
The GSUSA donated or provided over $1 million per year contribution to the World Associate of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), who is best known for advocating ‘sexual and reproductive rights’ (code for abortion). They also participated in and supported the May 2013 Women Deliver conference; which hosted speakers such as late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart; philosopher Peter Singer, who supports infanticide and euthanasia; and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who is currently under investigation by a congressional committee. Other attendees included Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the United Nations Population Fund. The title of one of the speeches given at the conference was “Why I perform Abortions.” What part of any of this implies that they are ‘remaining neutral’ on the topic of abortion?
….. Wow. Girls Scouts of USA, you may not agree with all of their stances, but considering that their main purpose is to promote abortion and ‘choice’, I’m inclined to believe that you’re intentionally trying to mislead me here.
Wait! There’s more. Do they or do they NOT have a financial or political tie to Planned Parenthood? Here’s their answer:
WHEW! What a relief! Hold the phone though, what’s this? Is this a (currently un-retracted) video of your CEO, Kathy Cloninger, admitting on CNS News that you DO, in fact, have a relationship with Planned Parenthood?
Um, yes. That’s exactly what that is. You, Girl Scouts of USA, have intentionally misled and lied to us. You not only support ‘choice’, you encourage it. Did you also help sponsor and support a class called “Real Life. Real Talk”, a sexually explicit ‘informative’ sexual education program? And then support exposing children as young as 11 years-old to it? No? Well this Planned Parenthood newsletter thanks you for doing so. So if you didn’t do it, you may want to correct that.
So, fellow pro-life, pro-family, and pro-common sense Americans; how do you feel about this? Do you still think they’re as innocent as they claim?
You should first be appalled that you have placed your trust, and your daughters, in an organization that is making a very clear statement that they are not only not neutral on the subject, as they once promised to remain, but that they are decidedly pro-abortion. Their participation in this conference, their ‘innocent’ ties to pro-abortion groups like NARAL, and their continued monetary and public support of Planned Parenthood and The Coalition for Adolescent Girls, a group that supports and distributes comprehensive sex education (taking the ‘birds and bees’ talk away from parents) and abortion related care for young girls, is downright shocking and reprehensible.
As Christians living in a nation based on Christian morals, as Americans raising families in the “Land of the Free,” you should feel an increasing sense of outrage. You have been lied to. Your first reaction is going to be to get angry, your second should be to boycott the Girl Scouts. Period. No more cookies, no more donations, and no more giving them your daughters. There are alternatives. (Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like a list of alternatives or suggestions).
This fight is very real, and the pro-abortion community has made clear that they are after YOUR daughters. Don’t let it happen. Fight for your families, fight for your morality, fight for your children and millions of unborn children that are being targeted. Do not be fooled by their innocent facade. We’ve been warned about this enemy.
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
